Davide Lattanzi

Scientific Technician

I am currently a Scientific Technician in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Urbino. In 2000, I graduated in Biological Sciences and obtained a Ph.D. in "Cellular Regulation Mechanisms: Morpho-functional and Evolutionary Aspects" at University of Urbino "Carlo Bo". My research encompasses the following areas: electrophysiological and molecular analysis of synaptic plasticity in immature neurons of the adult rat dentate gyrus, as well as the study of the maturation of neurons generated in the adult hippocampus and their integration into functional circuits. This included investigating the effects of physical activity and behavioral protocols involving hippocampus-dependent tasks. From 2009 to 2020, I held the course of "Exercise Physiology" in the Faculty of Sports Sciences of the University of Urbino "Carlo Bo." In the Physiology Lab of the University of Urbino, I employed several modern electrophysiological techniques, such as patch-clamp in whole-cell, inside-out, outside-out configurations, loose patch, extracellular recordings on ex-vivo and in-vitro preparations and calcium imaging. In recent years, I have applied my expertise in electronics and programming Arduino boards to construct low-cost scientific instruments, including a microcurrent stimulator for biological models and a TEER measuring system.
